Since the pandemic hit us last 2020, we are all unprepared, lest thinking it will not last long until we're in the second quarter of the same year. Our mental health is slowly declining.

You might think it does not exist because we live in a country where resiliency became overrated and considering that we live in the only Christian nation in Asia — the Philippines.

Below are practical ways to make your mental health well because, yes! Mental Health Matters!

6 Tips to make your Mental Health well

1. MEDITATION

Set aside a few minutes each day to center yourself, focus on your breathing, and relax. It will keep your mental health intact.

2. SHOW LOVE TO FAMILY AND FRIENDS. CONNECT.

A support system is vital to your mental health. Make time to connect with the people in your life you value the most. Quality relationships lead to a healthy life.

3. IMPROVE YOUR PHYSICAL WELLNESS

Physical health is as important as your mental health. Focus on your food intake and make it more nutritious. Spare your time to do some exercising a few times a week. Your body responds to help relieve pain and stress.

4. TAKE TIME TO LAUGH

Laughter is the best medicine indeed. Hangout and connect with your friends, watch entertainment videos. Laughter makes your mental health well.

5. AVOID ALCOHOL, CIGARETTE AND DRUGS CONSUMPTION

Many people consider taking these substances as a coping mechanism when dealing with problems or when we are stressed. We need to avoid all of these because it's not good for our mental health. It increases stress which is will make it hard to control and concentrate on your emotions.

6. IT'S OKAY TO SAY NO

Prioritizing things you enjoy will make you happier than doing otherwise just because others tell you so. You don't need the approval of others. You can say "No" without explaining why. Little thing as it may seem, but it is beneficial to your mental health.
